This class is a broad overview of government.  Beginning with a brief introduction to federal, state, and municipal government, this class outlines the structure and sources of power at each level.  Most of this class focuses on the municipal government and its relationship with the state.  The responsibilities and fiduciary duty of a municipal finance officer are discussed as well.

Fairview strategic plan - 2025

MTAS helped facilitate a strategic planning discussion for Fairview, Tennessee Mayor & Commissioners on Saturday, August 16, & Thursday, October 2, 2025. The sessions were held in the City Hall, 7100 City Center Way, Fairview, TN.  In addition to the city elected officials, several members of the public and the staff leadership team led by City Manager Tom Daugherty were in attendance. The overall objective and purpose of this session was to lead the Board of Mayor & Commission members and leadership team through a facilitated session to set goals for 2026 and beyond.
