A survey of selected cities regarding the employment of an administrative hearing officer (AHO). Includes whether the position is full-time, or part-time, if the position is contracted and the nature of the contracted relationship. 

In response to a request for assistance from Jacksboro Fire Chief Jason Shetterly, MTAS conducted a review of the town’s 2023 Insurance Service Office (ISO) evaluation to identify area of improvements that could help Jacksboro to improve upon its current ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC). Because there was no final summary report available that was associated with the April 2023 evaluation, MTAS reviewed Jacksboro’s Public Protection Classification Summary Report, prepared by ISO in September of 2014, against the current (2012/2013) edition of the ISO Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS), and reviewed the fire protection area. MTAS also reviewed current data available through Verisk’s Mitigate dashboard. This report includes recommendations based upon the observations and comparisons made during the review.

Mr. Terry Hood, Fire Chief, contacted MTAS and requested a comprehensive management review of the Spring Hill Fire Department (SHFD). Nothing in this report should be viewed as a negative reflection of the Spring Hill Fire Department. Interviews conducted with Spring Hill staff indicate that the firefighters and staff are dedicated, hardworking, and respond quickly to all emergencies. This report provides an outside perspective of the fire department’s services and future needs, based upon fire service best practices, national standards, and the ISO Fire Suppression Rating Schedule
