Good Morning MTAS,

Wow – can you believe that today is December? It seems that we got stuck in a Groundhog Day movie for a while after the COVID pandemic broke out. Somehow we spun out of that and into the end of the calendar year. Whew! It’s been tough these last several months, and I hope that the two weeks of working at home granted by Dr. Byrd and the long holiday weekend helped recharge your batteries.

Please remember to complete your mandatory UT and IPS training in K@te. We’re getting close to having full participation and completion. Thanks to all who have already taken the time to refresh your education on cybersecurity, Titles IX and VI training, and the UT code of conduct.

Speaking of participation – THANK YOU to all of you who were a part of the campus chest campaign. I am thrilled to learn that we exceeded our dollar goal (we met 131% of the goal). We also came close to 100% participation with 46 out of 50 making contributions. I am so impressed with your generosity. Those dollars raised really make an impact on the charities you supported. Also, you impress me with your generosity toward your customers with your time and sharing of your knowledge. You again are improving the lives of Tennesseans.

Continuing on that line of thought – improving lives – I have a very positive letter to share with you from one of our customers:

I just wanted to send you a quick thank you on behalf of the TCAPWA as the President Elect for the Tennessee Chapter for all the hard work Abb Oglesby and his team have done for our virtual conference. They have done a fantastic job and thanks to their efforts this conference is looking like it will be one of the highest attended virtual state conferences in the US for Public Works. Please pass on our thanks to Abb and his team, we really appreciate all the support and assistance we have received from MTAS.

Thank you,

John Fox
Public Works Manager
Public Services Department
Town of Collierville

One more reminder is to complete the annual conflict of interest disclosure form. The deadline is December 15. Here are the instructions from Gail White’s email yesterday:

To file your disclosure for 2020-21, please sign in to the IRIS Web Portal with your NetID and Password and click on the Employee Self-Service tab. Under the Personal Information area, choose the Outside Interest Disclosure link and follow the instructions on the screen. Employees can use the Help and Video buttons at the top of the screen for additional information or to watch a brief video explaining the form.  After completing and submitting the form, it will be routed electronically through the review process based on Org Chart Manager position data.

Finally, please join me in celebrating Sharon’s work anniversary that happened on Thanksgiving day! Happy anniversary Sharon. You have contributed so much to MTAS, and I look forward to watching how you next put your talents to work for the betterment of our customers.

I hope you had a tremendous Thanksgiving holiday, were safe, and that you continue to be safe and well.
Margaret
