An agency of the UT Institute for Public Service, MTAS provides technical assistance to cities and towns across the state of Tennessee - their governing bodies, mayors, city managers, city recorders and department heads. Established in 1949 by the Tennessee General Assembly to provide "assistance in all matters relating to municipal government."
