West Tennessee Mayor’s Association: A Tradition of Regional Leadership
West Tennessee Mayor’s Association: A Tradition of Regional Leadership
The West Tennessee Mayor’s Association (WTMA) traces its origins to the early 1950s, when the elected leadership of the 110 cities across West Tennessee united to speak with one voice on issues affecting their communities. For decades, this collaborative spirit has strengthened regional advocacy and supported improved municipal governance.
The partnership between MTAS and WTMA began in the early 1990s. This affiliation is a natural fit—MTAS’s mission includes providing education, training, and technical assistance to Tennessee municipalities. As part of this role, MTAS supports the association by coordinating meetings, sharing resources, and bringing University of Tennessee expertise directly to the cities we serve. Service is in our name, and we are proud to support the work of West Tennessee’s municipal leaders.
