The UT Center for Local Planning (CLP), with assistance from UT Municipal Technical Advisory Service legal consultants, has released new Model Municpal Data Center Zoning Regulations for Tennessee municipalities.

The rise of data centers has presented Tennessee municipalities with unique challenges and opportunities that are often not addressed within their current zoning standards. This set of model zoning regulations have been created to assist communities in addressing this new land use. Cities should utilize these model regulations as a starting point in assembling zoning standards that meet the needs and expectations of their community.

Who this applies to: This resource is intended specifically for municipalities that have already adopted a set of zoning regulations for their jurisdiction. If your city has not adopted zoning, this template will not apply to you until such regulations are in place.
