Safer roads using flexible geometric design / Marshall Elizer.
A roadway's geometric design has a significant and direct impact on the safety for all roadway users. It is especially critical on roadways where vulnerable users (pedestrians, cyclists, and people who use wheelchairs) are in the same or adjacent operating space as motor vehicles. This article focuses on the design of lower-speed roadways operating across a wide range of suburban and urban land use "contexts" that typically serve multiple user groups.
