If multiple properties are generating crime problems, then choose the right regulatory strategy. Place-based regulation of a certain type of place (e.g., bars, parking garages, motels, or convenience stores) has some advantages over place-by-place attempts at crime prevention. Whether to use means-based or ends-based regulation is another important consideration.
