Preparing for Tennessee's new population estimates : a toolkit / Tim Kuhn and Ned Phillips.

Abstract: Tennessee is changing how it distributes state-shared revenues—and your community needs to be ready. Starting in 2026, population-based revenue formulas will rely on annually updated population estimates, not outdated decennial census figures. This shift means local governments must act now to ensure their data is accurate and complete. MTAS hosted a webinar on November 10 to help Tennessee municipalities and counties prepare for this change. Presenters were Tim Kuhn, Tennessee State Data Center, UT Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, and Ned Phillips, GIS Analyst, Comptroller of the Treasury.
