Water Quality Specialist I

Assists with the operations of the Stormwater Division of the Engineering Department under the direct supervision of the Stormwater Management Coordinator. Primarily conducts erosion prevention and sediment control inspections of construction sites. Assists in the administration and management of the Water Quality section of the Stormwater Management Program, in order to meet the goals and objectives of the City’s MS4 NPDES permit, City of Franklin Stormwater Management Ordinance and stormwater best management practices.

Education and Experience

The required knowledge, skill, and abilities to satisfactorily perform job duties are normally acquired through attainment of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, engineering or related field or equivalent plus 2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses

  • TN Driver’s License
  • TDEC Level 1 (Must be obtained prior to completion of the probationary period)
  • TDEC Level 2 (Must be obtained prior to completion of the probationary period)
  • Tennessee Stormwater Control Measures (SCM) Inspection and Maintenance (Must be obtained prior to completion of the probationary period)
  • 10 Hours OSHA Training within 1 month of employment
  • Confined Space Entry Training for Construction within 1 month of employment
