Water Plant Technician / Operator

The City of Maryville Water Plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are looking for a night shift technician / operator to work 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts between 11:00 pm-11:00 am. Schedule is 40 hours per week. Rotating schedule - work 8 days, off 6 days.

Essential Functions

• Maintains and operates a water treatment plant; records readings from instruments; maintains records on plant operations; monitors levels and flows and makes appropriate adjustments.
• Assists with the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
• Collects samples; performs laboratory tests in the absence of the Laboratory Technician.
• Handles chemicals and calculates correct dosage.
• Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance work.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Tennessee.
• Must be available to work night shift, evening shift, weekends, and occasional day shift.
• Grade III or Grade IV Water Treatment Operator certification preferred.
