Buyer and Strategic Sourcing Specialist

The position is responsible for procurement activities for the City of Maryville, ensuring that goods and services are acquired in a cost- effective and efficient manner while adhering to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The role includes strategic sourcing, and vendor relations for the general government and utilities. The work is performed under the direction of the Purchasing and Contracts Manager and falls under the Finance Department.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in business administration, supply chain management, or related field and considerable purchasing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Related experience in government setting preferred.


Special Requirements:

  • Obtain a CPPB or approved equivalent within three (3) years of hire.
  • Obtain Lift Truck Operator certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Possession of Class D driver’s license valid in the State of Tennessee.
