Training for Municipal Clerks and Recorders
Municipal clerks and recorders of municipalities with a population of 1,500 or greater* must be certified per Chapter 648 of Public Acts of 1994.
*per the 1990 or any subsequent federal census.
Training Requirements
Initial Certification
Obtain a certificate from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) or complete a minimum of 100 credit hours of applicable education.
Continuing Education
Complete 18 hours of continuing education every three years.
