Smoke detector nuisance alarms : a field study in a Native American community

Summary:Fires are the leading cause of unintentional death in the home for Native Americans. Although smoke detectors can reduce the risk of residential fire death by 40 percent or more, many detectors are disconnected because of frequent nuisance alarms.
