Summary:
The FAA estimates that by this year, as many as 7,500 commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or "drones" will be operating in the United States.  Public agencies now have access to valuable technology, once available only to the military and its related entities, aimed at maintaining public safety, protecting law enforcement officers from harm and collecting valuable data and imaging in order to aid in search and rescue missions, accident reconstruction, or to respond to natural or manmade disasters.
