An ordinance establishing a regional water/wastewater advisory board for the Town of Alexandria and surrounding counties.
TOWN OF ALEXANDRIA, TENNESSEE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Alexandria:
Section 1. Creation.
There is hereby created an agency to be known and referred to as the “Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board."
Section 2. Membership.
Representation. The Alexandria Mayor and Board of Aldermen shall have authority to make appointments. The membership of the Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board shall be composed as follows: One (1) member of the advisory board shall be the Mayor of Alexandria, who shall act as chairperson. In addition, there shall be one (1) member representing each from Smith County, Wilson County, DeKalb County and a citizen residing in Alexandria. Any member of the advisory board may appoint a designee to attend any meeting of said board in the event the member is unable to attend.
Terms of members. All members of the Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board shall serve at the will of the Alexandria Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Scope of duties.The board will make recommendations to the Alexandria Mayor and Board of Aldermen for consideration. Recommendations include fixed assets, rates, connection policies and other operating and planning procedures.
Section 3. Meetings.
Regular meetings. The Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board shall meet no less often than quarterly or at the pleasure of the advisory board.
Special meetings. Special meetings may be called by the chairperson of the Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board or at the request of 3 members of the appointed membership.
Notice of meetings. All meetings, both regular and special, shall be noticed to the public in accordance with law.
Quorum. A quorum for the conduct of business by the Alexandria Regional Water/Wastewater Advisory Board shall be a majority of the appointed membership, or their respective designees.
Voting at regular or special meetings. A simple majority of votes entitled to be cast on a matter by the appointed members present shall be necessary for adoption.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective upon final passage, the public welfare requiring it.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF ALEXANDRIA THAT_________ IS HEREBY ADOPTED
