Certificates

Completion of MTAS training programs lead to certificates for Elected Officials, Appointed Officials and Municipal Employees, and Municipal Managers and Supervisors.

Elected Officials

The Policy Maker certificate is awarded to participants who complete all of the 50 required hours of instruction in the program.

• Elected Officials Academy - Level I (10 hours)
• Elected Officials Academy - Level II (16 hours)
• LGLP (12 hours)
• Elective Hours (12 hours)

Appointed Officials and Municipal Employees

The Public Administrator certificate is awarded to participants who complete all 90 hours of required instruction in the program.

• Administration/Technical (30 hours)
• Leadership/Management (30 hours)
• Elective Hours (30 hours)

Municipal Managers and Supervisors

The Municipal Management certificate is awarded to participants who complete all 8 of the required sessions in the Level I Municipal Management Academy curriculum for a total of 32 hours.

Municipal Management Academy Level II participants who complete 32 hours of Level II sessions including the 4 required sessions and 4 elective sessions will be awarded an Advanced Municipal Management certificate.

Municipal Management Academy Level III participants must complete a practicum, plus three 4-hour sessions to be awarded a Master Municipal Management certificate.

Elective Training Credit

Elective credit will be awarded for pre-approved MTAS training offered at municipal association meetings, hot topic training and MTAS sponsored retreats. Participants seeking credit must complete MTAS registration forms. Credit earned through any of these sessions may be applied to the Policy Maker and Public Administrator certificates but not for Municipal Management Academy certificates.
