This year, the State Fire Marshal's Office is providing a "new" guide and a committed effort to improving fire prevention efforts. Fire prevention must be considered a year-round effort; and the attached document serves as both the tool to identify target areas where fire deaths are predicted but also provides a coordinated program of public fire education to reduce fire related deaths. ,
This is the first step of a new progressive public education program that is committing to updating, publishing, and distributing this guide and other information annually to fire service leaders across the state. Research, data tracking, and the use of new technology will support efforts as this is a never ending process.
