UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTION SUPERVISOR
Under the direction of the Water and Wastewater Superintendent, the Utilities Distribution and Collection Supervisor directs general maintenance crews in the repair and construction of water and sewer line components. Performs management duties and other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Establish work priorities and schedule crews accordingly.
Assist customers in water and sewer service problems.
Prepare and maintain all records pertaining to departmental budgets.
Provide preventive maintenance where applicable.
Investigate trouble reports to determine proper action to be taken.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate repair and/or construction of water and sewer mains with other utility crews.
Perform personnel related functions; interview, hire, terminate and handle employee problems and complaints.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the materials used in the repair and construction of water and sewer line components.
Knowledge of the methods used in repairing and constructing water and sewer line components.
Knowledge of general supervision and management practices.
Knowledge of city, state and federal codes governing water and wastewater facilities.
Knowledge of the repair and construction methods, techniques and problems relating to water and sewage line components.
Ability to operate heavy hand tools and heavy equipment;
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees.
Ability to maintain records and make reports.
Any combination and experience and training equivalent to:
High school diploma or GED;
Bachelor Degree in Engineering preferred;
Eight (8) to ten (10) years experience in the collection and distribution of water and wastewater services.
Grade II Certification in both Water and Wastewater.
Valid Tennessee Commercial driver's license.
Applicants must be in such physical condition as not to impair their performance of the required duties of the class and may be required to take a physical examination given by a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State and designated by the City.
