A resolution requesting Senator Michael R. William and Representative Dennis E. Roach sponsor legislation before the General Assembly that adds a Section 9a to Chapter 210 of the Acts of 1907; as amended by Chapter 72 of the Private Acts of 1915 and Chapter 49 of the Private Acts of 1989 and Chapter 151 of Private Acts of 2000; and any other acts amendatory thereto, relative to the charter of the Town of Cumberland Gap.

WHEREAS, The Town of Cumberland Gap was incorporated under Chapter 210 of the Private Acts of 1907; and

WHEREAS, The Town of Cumberland Gap has periodically requested the General Assembly change portions of its charter to fit the needs of the town; and

WHEREAS, Town of Cumberland Gap wishes to provide for the position of vice mayor in its charter.


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CUMBERLAND GAP that the Town Council requests that Senator Michael R. William and Representative Dennis E. Roach sponsor legislation before the General Assembly that amends the Town of Cumberland Gap’s charter by adding a Section 9a to Chapter 210 of the Acts of 1907; as amended by Chapter 72 of the Private Acts of 1915 and Chapter 49 of the Private Acts of 1989 and Chapter 151 of Private Acts of 2000; and any other acts amendatory thereto.

Section 1. The proposed new section 9a is listed below:

SECTION 9a. Vice Mayor



Section 2. This act shall have no effect unless it is approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Legislative Body of the Town of Cumberland Gap. Its approval or non-approval shall be proclaimed by the presiding officer of the Town of Cumberland Gap and certified to the Secretary of State.

Section 3. For the purpose of approving or rejecting the provisions of this act, it shall be effective upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. For all other purposes, it shall become effective as provided in Section 2.
