AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TOWNSEND, TENNESSEE
AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 BUDGET, PASSED
BY ORDINANCE NUMBER 243-09-1C

WHEREAS, the City of Townsend adopted the fiscal year 2009-2010 budget by passage of Ordinance Number 243-09-1C on _____________; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Tennessee state constitution, Section 24 of Article II, no public money shall be expended except pursuant to appropriations made by law; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Budget Law of 1982, as found in the Tennessee Code Annotated section 6-56-209, the Board of Commissioners has the authority to authorize the budget officer to transfer moneys from one appropriation to another within the same fund; and

WHEREAS, expenses for the general government and parks and recreations will be greater than anticipated; and

WHEREAS, expenses for the ______________ will not reach projected amounts; and

WHEREAS, the general government, parks and recreation, and ____________ are housed within the General Fund for the city.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF TOWNSEND, TENNESSEE THAT CHANGES BE MADE TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 BUDGET AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Ordinance Number 243-09-1C is hereby amended by increasing general government by $_________ and parks and recreations by _____________; and decreasing ____________ by $_______________ and fund balance by $_________________.

SECTION 2. The Board of Mayor and Commissioners authorizes the city recorder to make said changes in the accounting system.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage.
