Department personal vehicles for City Business – Director of HR; Manager of Fairgrounds Park; Director of Neighborhood Services; Director of Planning; Manager of the Ned McWherter Cultural & Arts Center; Manager of the Civic Center.
All employees required, by the nature of their official responsibilities, to have a vehicle assigned to them on a 24 hours basis who are required by the Internal Revenue Service to report the miles driven to and from work as income, because employee is driving a nonexempt vehicle, for tax purposes, are eligible for a payroll adjustment of $3.00 for each day the vehicle is used for commuting to and from work, provided all forms required by the Metropolitan Finance Department are properly and timely filed.
Mayor, City Manager, Finance Director, Human Resource Director, Purchasing Agent, Comm. Dev. Director, Building Inspector, Codes Enforcement Officer, Police Chief, Parks Director. The Fire Chief and Public Works Director both have city vehicles and do not receive car allowance.
We allow department heads that might be called back out to take a City car home.
Directors, Assistant City Administrators who do not have an assigned City Vehicle & City Administrator
Assistant City Manager, Transit Director, W/S Director, Planning Director
Some of the Department Heads have cars excluding the HR Director and City Recorder/Treasurer.
City Manager, Asst City Manager, and Department Heads who are not provided a vehicle. Fire, Police and Public Works have take-home vehicles and do not get allowance. Development and Eng. Services Director, Finance Director and Recreation Director get the allowance.

The only position that gets a car allowance is the City Administrator.
A few Executive staff members are provided a car.
Most of our key employees have an assigned vehicle and we have a motor pool for the occasional users.
