AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF BULLS GAP, TENNESSEE ESTABLISHING ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER AS THE OFFICIAL SET OF PROCEDURES FOR CONDUCTING BUSINESS AT MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND ALDERMEN.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to maintain decorum in order to transact city business in a civil and mannerly way; and
WHEREAS, it is generally recommended by the Municipal Technical Advisory Service of the University of Tennessee that cities formally adopt procedures to govern the conduct of business to be transacted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen; and
WHEREAS, Robert’s Rules of Order are a generally accepted set of parliamentary procedures used by a most municipal governments to conduct their official business: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Bulls Gap, Tennessee that:
Section 1.The rules of order and parliamentary procedure contained in Robert’s Rulesof Order, Newly Revised, shall govern the transaction of business by and before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at its meetings in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with provisions of the Bulls Gap charter.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the public welfare requiring it.
