Text of Document: TOWN OF HUNTSVILLE, TENNESSEE
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF HUNTSVILLE, TENNESSEE DECLARING ITS INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TENNESSEE ADVENTURE TOURISM AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 2011 BY DEVELOPING AN ADVENTURE TOURISM DISTRICT PLAN
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated 11-11-204 states that a local governing body may, by two-thirds (2/3) vote of its governing body, authorize the creation of a district within the boundaries of such governing body as an adventure tourism district by developing an adventure tourism district plan;
WHEREAS, the Town of Huntsville encourages Scott County to enter into an interlocal agreement with Huntsville to designate jointly an adventure tourism district;
WHEREAS, adventure tourism such motorized trail riding, all – terrain vehicles, mountain biking and road biking offers economic development opportunities for all businesses in Huntsville;
WHEREAS, the Town of Huntsville will work closely with the State of Tennessee Economic and Community Development and Department of Revenue to ensure approval of the adventure tourism district plan; and
WHEREAS, the town of Huntsville will develop regulations pursuant to TCA 55-8 101 upon approval of the adventure tourism district plan.
