DEFINITION:

Under direction of Director of Parks and Recreation, performs various clerical duties such as typing, ordering supplies, preparing invoices for payment; dictaphone; filing; public contact, bath in person and by telephone; aid coworkers in detailed situations such as typing reports and payroll; and do related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Communicate effectively both in person and by telephone with the public and other department personnel;
type various correspondence, reports and invoices on the computer and typewriter;
use calculator;
proof read various documents;
record vacation and sick leave for administrative staff;
file; maintain personnel files;
sort mail; order supplies; process invoices for payment;
keep payroll records; and perform routine clerical duties.
Sit for an extended period of time typing and entering data on computer.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

May be required to lift up to 42 pounds of computer paper, copier paper, files or related supplies for overhead storage.
May be required to climb small ladder to retrieve files or supplies in overhead storage.
General upkeep of office area.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Two years clerical experience and one year experience in public contact, either in person or over telephone.
Ability to type 50 words per minute;
Strong communication skills;
Familiar with modern office equipment; and
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma.
