Qualifying employees begin participating in the program after three (3) years of full-time service. Longevity pay is paid annually and is calculated at the rate of $50 for each year of eligible service, retroactive to the first year of such service. The exception is for such employees who were hired by the City before January 1, 1990, for whom longevity pay after years of service 25 through 29 equals $1,500 per year and after years of service 30 through 39 $2,000 per year, but after all other years of service is the same as for qualifying employees hired by the City on or after this same date. The cap for longevity pay is $2,000.
