Re: Airport Authority

Dear Mrs. Rhoton

Airport authority attorney John Colvin called me yesterday inquiring about how to proceed with the charter issue. My last correspondence to Mayor Harrell was December 22, 2010. I was not aware that John was waiting on MTAS for additional legal research.

Our recommendation was and is that a new charter be filed under the provisions of state law. The city’s attorney or attorneys should figure out whether to amend the present charter in its entirety or nullify the present charter and file a new one.

Since it has been about seven (7) months since MTAS reviewed the charter issue, the city may need to step into the driver’s seat to get the issue straightened out. Apparently, the airport authority is not going to get it done.

Please call me if I may be of further assistance.
