AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING STATE MISDEMEANOR LAWS AS OFFENSES AGAINST THE PEACE AND DIGNITY OF THE CITY
Whereas, the City of Jacksboro, Tennessee wishes to mirror or adopt state misdemeanor laws to more effectively enforce offenses against the peace and dignity of the city,
Now, therefore, Be It Ordained by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Jacksboro, Tennessee as follows:
Section 1. The following offenses declared misdemeanors by the laws of the state are hereby declared to be offenses against the peace and dignity of the city and punishable as prescribed in Section 2. of this ordinance:

Section 2. 1-107. General penalty; fines and civil penalties; continuing
violations. Whenever in this code or in any ordinance of the city, an act is
prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor,
or whenever in such code or ordinance the doing of any act is required or the
failure to do any act is prohibited or is declared to be unlawful or an offense or
a misdemeanor, where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of
any such provision of this code or any such ordinance shall be punishable by a
fine of not more than fifty dollars ($50.00). Each day any violation of this code or of any ordinance continues shall constitute a separate offense. No prior written notice is required to be rendered by the city to any violator of the provisions of this code as a prerequisite to city's bringing formal charges against violators in the municipal or any other court of competent jurisdiction.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage the public welfare requiring it.
