AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF UNICOI, TENNESSEE, ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS IN THE AREA OF THE BUFFALO VALLEY GOLF COURSE AND LOWERING THE LIMIT ON LAKEVIEW DRIVE.

WHEREAS, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the Town of Unicoi is interested in establishing safe speed limits for vehicles traveling in the Town, and

WHEREAS, Title 15, Chapter 1 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Unicoi, states that a speed limit of 35 miles per hour will apply in the Town unless otherwise designated, and

WHEREAS, the Buffalo Valley Golf Course area is unsafe when vehicles are traveling at 35 miles per hour and the Board of Mayor and Aldermen has previously set the limit in this area at 25 miles per hour, and

WHEREAS, Lakeview Drive is unsafe even when vehicles travel at 25 miles per hour; now, therefore:

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF MAYOR AND ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF UNICOI, TENNESSEE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. There is established a maximum speed limit of 25 miles per hour for all of Golf Course Road and all other streets or roads within the boundaries of the Buffalo Valley Golf Course, except as provided below.

Section 2. There is established a maximum speed limit of 15 miles per hour on Lakeview Drive.

Section 3. A penalty of up to $50 shall be imposed for each violation of this ordinance.

Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage and the posting of appropriate signs, the public welfare requiring it.
